You need a Mana account and an internet connection to use Mana.

Use Mana in the browser

Open app.mana.re and sign in or create an account. Mana supports email sign-in and social sign-in options shown on the sign-in page.

Install the desktop app

You can download the desktop app from mana.re/download or from the account menu inside Mana. The desktop app signs in through your system browser and returns you to the app when sign-in is complete. See Desktop app for details.

Onboarding

New accounts see a short onboarding flow. It may ask about how you plan to use Mana, let you choose a theme, and ask you to choose a plan. The writing questions are used to understand how to improve Mana. They do not change your project features.

Plans and free access

Start costs $12 per month, or $108 per year ($9 per month billed annually). New Start subscribers currently receive a 21-day free trial. Pro costs $48 per month, or $432 per year. Team is coming soon, and Custom plans are arranged by email. During the public beta, free users can separately apply for Start-equivalent access during the testing phase. Mana reviews each application, so beta access is not automatic and is separate from the subscription trial. The current pricing model is documented on Plans.
Trial and beta offers can change. The in-app pricing screen is the source of truth for the offer available to your account.

Connection requirement

Mana saves and syncs through your account. A brief connection drop can be buffered while the editor reconnects, but Mana is not designed for long offline writing sessions.
