Mana is available in the browser and as a desktop app.
The desktop app uses the same account and projects as the web app.
Download
Use the download link from the website or the account menu inside Mana.
Current desktop builds are available for macOS on Apple Silicon and Intel,
Windows on x86_64, and Linux on x86_64 and ARM64.
Linux is distributed as an AppImage. Download the build matching your processor
architecture, mark the file as executable, and launch it:
Sign in on desktop
The desktop app signs you in through your system browser.
Open the desktop app
Choose Log In.
Sign in in the browser
Complete the normal Mana sign-in flow, then confirm Continue as… on the desktop authorization page.
Return to the app
The browser sends you back to the desktop app with a one-time sign-in link.
Updates
The desktop app checks for updates automatically.
On startup, an available update may download and install immediately. While the app is already open, Mana can download updates in the background and show an update indicator when one is ready to install.
Offline behavior
Mana is not a full offline-first editor.
Brief connection drops are buffered locally while the editor reconnects. If the app stays disconnected for several seconds, Mana shows a blocking reconnect dialog so you do not keep writing for a long time against a connection that cannot persist your work.
Do not treat the desktop app as a long-term offline writing mode. Closing the app during an extended disconnect can lose changes that have not reached the server.
Connection status
The editor footer shows whether Mana is online or reconnecting. On editor pages, the status also accounts for the live editor connection.
