The editor is the main writing surface for content documents and scratches. Select a text node in the content tree or scratches tree to open it in the editor. Mana saves through your account while connected.

Toolbar

The toolbar includes common writing actions:
  • Undo and redo
  • Paragraph and heading styles
  • Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, subscript, and superscript
  • Bullet and numbered lists
  • Image upload when images are enabled
  • Alignment controls
  • Internal note insertion when internal notes are enabled

Slash commands

Type / in the editor to open the slash command menu. Slash commands mirror available toolbar actions and respect the project’s configuration. For example, image insertion only appears when images are enabled for the project. Use Cmd/Ctrl + F for find and replace in the current document. Use Cmd/Ctrl + K for quick switch across the current project. See Find, replace, and quick switch.

Internal notes

Internal notes are writer-only blocks that stay visually separate from prose and are excluded from word count and story text. See Internal notes.

Comments

Use the Comments panel in the editor sidebar to leave comments on selected text, reply to threads, and resolve or reopen threads. Comments are available after the document has synced. In read-only mode, existing comments can be viewed but not changed.

Version history

Use the Version history panel in the editor sidebar to save a named version or restore an earlier document version. Automatic version history is enabled by default with a 15-minute interval. From the project’s Configuration screen, you can turn it off or change the interval to 30 or 60 minutes.

Reader reactions

Use Reader reactions in the editor sidebar to generate a reader-style pass on the current content scene. Reader reactions support different review lenses, including general reader, fan, skeptic, and publisher. They are only available for content scenes, not scratch notes or folders.

Focus mode

Focus mode hides sidebars and other app chrome while you write. See Focus mode.

Zoom and themes

Zoom changes the size of the whole interface. Themes change the app appearance. Useful shortcuts:
  • Zoom in: Cmd/Ctrl + =
  • Zoom out: Cmd/Ctrl + -
  • Reset zoom: Cmd/Ctrl + 0
Theme and zoom preferences are saved on the device.
