Characters are Atlas entries for people, personas, voices, or any character-like entity in your project.

Create a character

1

Open the Atlas

Go to Atlas in your project.
2

Open Characters

Use the Characters section in the Atlas tree.
3

Create the character

Add a character, give it a name, and organize it with folders if needed.

Description

The Description tab is a simple profile editor. Use sections to capture backstory, motivation, relationships, voice, appearance, or any notes that help you write the character consistently. This editor is intentionally limited. It is for profile text, not full manuscript formatting.

Attributes

Character attributes are shared across the project. For example, you might create attribute keys such as:
  • Role
  • Age
  • Pronouns
  • Motivation
  • Relationship
Each character then stores its own value for those keys.
Deleting an attribute key removes that key from every character in the project.

Avatar

Characters can have an avatar image. The tree shows a small thumbnail when an avatar is available.

Chat

The Chat tab lets you talk with the character in character. The chat can use the character profile and project context when available. See Chat with a character.

Discord

If the Discord extension is enabled for the project, a character can also be connected to a Discord bot. See Add to Discord.
