# AI credits and usage

> How weekly AI credits work.

Mana uses weekly AI credits for metered features, including reader reactions, character chat, Discord bot activity, and Play Narration.

Credits reset every Tuesday at 10:00 UTC for all users. The reset does not depend on your subscription billing date.

## Credits by plan

## What uses credits

These features use credits:

* Chat with a character
* Reader reactions
* Connected Discord bot replies
* Discord active-mode evaluation
* Play Narration generation

  Project Intelligence is free and does not count against your AI credits.

## How credit cost is calculated

AI requests have different provider costs. Mana converts that usage into credits and rounds credits to one decimal place.

Internally, 1 credit equals \$0.01. The app presents credits so you do not need to reason about tiny per-request dollar amounts.

## What happens at the limit

Mana checks your credit balance before starting an AI action.

If you are already over the limit, the action is blocked and Mana shows a usage limit dialog. The request that pushed you over the limit can still complete.

## Track usage

Open **Settings** and go to **Usage** to see:

* Credits used this week
* Total weekly credits
* Reset date
* Week-by-week usage history, including each feature's credit cost
