# Languages

> Set the app language and project writing language.

Mana has two language settings:

* **Application language** controls the interface language.
* **Writing language** tells Mana what language the project is written in.

They are separate. You can use Mana's interface in one language while writing a project in another.

## Application language

Open the account menu and use **Application Language**. You can also change it from **Settings**.

The application language changes menus, dialogs, settings, and other UI text. It is saved on the device.

Supported interface locales are:

* English (US and UK)
* French
* German
* Italian
* Spanish (Spain and Latin America)
* Portuguese (Brazil)
* Finnish
* Danish
* Dutch
* Norwegian Bokmål
* Swedish

## Writing language

Choose the writing language when creating a project. You can also change it later from the project's **Configuration** page.

The writing language helps language-aware features choose the right behavior. Play Narration also uses it to choose a narration language when possible.

Current writing language options are:

* English
* French
* Other

<Note>
  Changing the application language does not translate your writing or your project data.
